Carlsbad, CA - (March 1, 2015) - MRC GOLF, INC. has debuted the OT™ Iron Series shaft. It changes everything.
Even though graphite iron shafts can outperform steel on launch and distance, many players have been reluctant to move to graphite because of feel and control issues. They won't anymore.
The OT™ Iron shaft originated in our Japan "idea lab" called FRANKI™ (named after the Japanese word for incubator - "Fooranki"). It's run by a group of designers, engineers and other specialists who spend their time and energy creating new ways of doing things...no matter how crazy they seem. The idea here was to create Mitsubishi Rayon's most consistent, accurate and best feeling graphite iron shafts yet.
Thus, the OT™ Iron shaft utilizes two new technologies:
Instead of being made with a traditional prepreg sheet, the OT™ Iron shaft employs a new material for golf shafts called Tow Prepreg that contains carbon fibers arranged in super-strong “bundles” -- much the way a steel cable is made. These bundles are impregnated with resin to create the Tow Prepreg, and then woven together like a braid.
The braiding technology using Tow Prepreg is incredibly resistant to twisting and ovaling, and creates a shaft with no spine. This way, the shaft performs more consistently than one made with a traditional prepreg sheet. The braiding also minimizes impact vibration, to provide better feedback that's so important for iron play.
It's more than a new iron shaft. It's an entirely new way to think about iron shafts.
